Shows planned for Zimbabwe have been cancelled by South African artists as tension rises over assaults on foreigners and foreign companies in South Africa.

Mafikizolo and Mlindo the Vocalist said on Friday and Saturday, respectively, they postponed their performances planned for Zimbabwe's capital Harare and Bulawayo's second city.

South Africans and their companies in other African nations have been attacked in retaliation following reports of violence against foreigners in South Africa.

“I’m supposed to travel to Zimbabwe this weekend, but I fear for my life since I’m South African,” tweeted Mlindo, who had a show scheduled for Bulawayo.

“My country is doing so much harm to our brothers and sisters I have no choice but to wonder what lies in another African country as an African.”
