COVID-19 increases impact major North American sports leagues.
LOS ANGELES – The latest test for positive COVID-19 affected three major North American sports leagues this week. It causes players of the National Hockey League (NHL) to delay games.
And throwing into doubt whether it plans to be sending players to the forthcoming Beijing Olympics.
The NHL announced the postponement of the Carolina Hurricanes’ game on Tuesday, after players from the team were made to comply with COVID-19 protocol.
At a minimum, nine NHL games must be rescheduled due to the outbreaks in The Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, and New York Islanders.
On Tuesday, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid informed the CBC that he would like to participate in February. 4- 20 Beijing Winter Olympics.
However, he described the prospect of being in be in quarantine for as long as 5 weeks within China in the case of a positive test in the event of a positive test as “unsettling.”
“There hasn’t been a great deal of information made public in the last few days, and then there’s that three-to-five-week (quarantine) matter … It’s sort of floated about,” McDavid said.

National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams placed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. along with another eight players onto the reserve list of COVID-19 players.
The team announced this on Tuesday. This caused the team to close the practice facility.
Beckham scored a touchdown during the Rams, winning by 30-23 against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday in the game. Due to protocol, the Rams were forced to scratch four players before the game.
“Where we’re at now is in the middle of COVID issues,” Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Tuesday.
“We had to evaluate our guys. We’re in intense protocols. We’re currently remote. We’ll be remote the next day.
“This is the most unique and challenging circumstance we’ve faced during the COVID process over the past 2 years.”
On Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns also added eight players to the COVID-19 roster, including Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry.
