Shooting World Cup 2021: India settles for silver in women's 50-meter 3-position rifle team event

ISSF Shooting World Cup 2021: India won a silver medal in the women’s 50-meter 3-position rifle team event on Thursday after a loss to Poland.

India settled for a silver medal in the women’s 50-meter 3-position rifle team event after a loss to Poland on Thursday 25 March. The Indian women’s side for the team contest, comprised of sports shooters Anjum Moudgil, Shreya Saksena and Gaayathri Nithyanandam.

The trio of Indian rifle shooters lost to the Polish team consisting of Stankiewicz Aneta, Kochanska Natalia and Szutko Aleksandra by a 43-47 margin on the last occasion.

After winning this silver medal, the brilliant trio of sporting shooters at the rifle event, India has increased their medal table to 20 so far at the current ISSF Shooting World Cup 2021 being held in New Delhi.

India leads the gold tally with 9 medals, the silver category with 6 medals and the bronze category with 5 medals. The United States ranks second in the medal count, after India’s 20, with 6.

On Wednesday, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar added another gold medal to India’s tally at the current ISSF World Cup in New Delhi after winning the men’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions event by less than one point.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar scored a total of 462.5 points to overtake runner-up Istvan Peni of Hungary and claim first place on the podium at the Dr. Karni Singh shooting range. Steffen Olsen from Denmark took home the bronze medal with a score of 450.9 points.

The other Indians in the final, veteran Sanjeev Rajput and Niraj Kumar finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Tomar, who owns the Tokyo Olympics quota, scored 155 points on his knees and 310.5 in the prone position before the knockout round standing.
