Australia defeated Sri Lanka

Australia beat Sri Lanka in a dramatic super over to move 2 -0 over Sri Lanka in the five-match Twenty20 game at Sydney.

Marcus Stoinis hit the winning runs with only three balls left as pace bowler Josh Hazlewood restricted Sri Lanka to five runs during their second over.

Sri Lanka had earlier recorded 18 runs in the final ball in their primary innings, which included four off the final ball, equal to Australia’s total of 164-6.

Josh Inglis top-scored for Australia with 48 out of 32 delivery.
The English-born Inglis, who played only his second one-day test, scored five boundaries and appeared ready for a half-century.

Still, a stunning catch caused his dismissal by captain Dusan Shanaka, bowled by the Wanindu Hasaranga.

The Opener Pathum Nissanka smashed 73 from 53 balls to lead Sri Lanka’s batting, with Shanaka scoring 34 off 19 balls.

Their ferocious hitting was instrumental in getting Sri Lanka to win over those who are T20 world champions within a touching distance.

Dushmantha Chameera’s 4 off the last ball is barely short of a six, which could have won the match.

Hazlewood Was the top bowler in Australia with 3-22. His bad bowling continued into the super over, and Sri Lanka could only score 5-1.

Australia has made light work of the challenge by securing Stoinis striking back-to-back boundaries to secure victory.

The third game takes location in Canberra on the Tuesday of this week.
