Keep age aside, bring the best of India for a skill test with me: Harbhajan Singh at 40

Can Harbhajan Singh be at his best from IPL to IPL without playing domestic cricket?

He entered the Indian locker room when he was a lanky teenager and even after 22 seasons, Harbhajan Singh, 40, is backed up to come out on top in an individual “skill” battle with the best spinners in the country.

“If you still want to test me facing a battle of skills against those young people you consider the best in the business, bring him in,” Harbhajan, who has a T20 professional economy rate of less than 7 with 235 wickets, told PTI. in an interaction

Age at one level is overrated, he feels like a veteran of 103 tests and 236 ODI.

“You can talk about age if the ball, while the field is placed between your legs or your knees, are gone or if you hit it on the shoulder, that’s the reason you can’t give that strength.”

“But yes, I have been on the field wearing those Indian colors for at least 800 days (playing time). I have been a winner who does not need the sympathy of anyone. But yes, if it is about skills, bring the best from India and I’m still ready, “he said.

But can you be at your best from IPL to IPL without playing home cricket?

“To each his own. If someone feels he wants to play, good for him. If I throw 2000 balls in the nets for a month, the amount of top-level cricket that I have played is enough,” said Harbhajan, who turned 40 earlier this month.

Tell him that some of the boys who will be playing IPL this season, like Ravi Bishnoi and Kartik Tyagi, were born after he made his Test debut, and he laughed.

“It sounds like you’re trying to make me realize I’m too old, but seriously if you see that I started when Mohammed Azharuddin was the captain of India. It has been a brilliant journey, full of ups and downs and I am grateful to God that I have been able to live my dream for more than two decades, ”said Harbhajan.
