Tearful Marcelo Wants to Play After Leaving Real Madrid

On Monday, Marcelo said an emotional farewell to Real Madrid as the club’s most decorated player, but he reiterated he had no intentions to retire.

The 34-year-old has spent 15 years at the Santiago Bernabeu and will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the month.

At Real Madrid, Marcelo won 25 trophies, including five Champions League wins, six La Liga crowns, and two Copa del Rey titles.

Marcelo’s teammates, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Carlo Ancelotti, and Raul, presently in charge of the club’s B squad, were among those who attended a goodbye ceremony at Valdebebas.

“I felt I could reach the top when I joined Madrid, and here I am, the player with the most championships in the club’s history,” Marcelo, who was in tears, remarked.

“I don’t feel like I’m leaving Madrid; it’s not goodbye.” There will be problems if you don’t issue me a ticket,” he said.

Marcelo said that he would not mind playing against Real Madrid in the future, but he did not rule out the prospect of joining another European club.

“I haven’t considered retiring because I believe I can still play,” he stated. “I don’t believe facing Madrid will be an issue; I couldn’t have done anything better.” “I’m a consummate professional.”

Last month, Marcelo won his fifth Champions League trophy when Real Madrid overcame Liverpool in Paris to capture the European Cup for the 14th time.
