The eleventh edition of the African women cup of nations hosted in Ghana came to an end last night, the tournament had two groups A and B respectively with four teams in each group.

Technically it was a group B final bearing in mind that both nigeria and South Africa were in the same group during the group stages along side Zambia and Equatorial Guinea.

Despite super falcons losing to South Africa in the first game of competition but later the defending champions manged to salvage maximum points against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea to book a spot in the semifinals.

The super falcons Came into this tournament as defending champions and definitely a power house in women's football on the African continent.

The game ended Nigeria 4-3 South Africa on penalty shoot-out,

Congratulations to nigeria for winning their 9th women's AFCON title, this means cameroon, nigeria and South Africa will represent Africa at the FIFA women's world cup next year in June.

Indeed they are, but it was a narrow escape. They got lucky. Bayana Bayana played very well. Nice blog.
