Lancaster General Health Hosts First COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for Ages 5-11

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Lancaster General Health held its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children ages 5 to 11. Lancaster Barnstormers mascot Cylo was at the Suburban Pavillion on Saturday, Nov. 6 to help children who were receiving the first of two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which is one-third the adult dose.

One of the pediatricians said there are about 40,000 children in Lancaster County within the age group, and healthcare providers hope to vaccinate as many of them as possible this month.

“So bringing everyone in the county together, whether it’s a child or an adult, is extremely important so that we can eliminate COVID,” said Stacey Harris, director of operations.

Vaccination clinics will also be held on Saturday, November 13 and Saturday, November 20 at the Suburban Pavilion in Lancaster. According to the press release, the vaccine will also be available in LG Health Physicians’ pediatric and family medicine practices. Appointments are required.

“One mother told me that I can’t believe how excited she was to be able to schedule the vaccine,” said Dr. Frances Gross, president of pediatrics.
