Sonali Phogat Death Case: Goa Police Prepare To File Chargesheet

The police said on Friday that the profile was being assessed at senior levels and that a charge sheet would be issued based on impartial evidence amidst the continuing controversy surrounding the murder of Sonali Phogat.

Before this, the Supreme Court temporarily halted the destruction of the Curlies restaurant in Goa on the condition that no commercial operations would occur there.

The actress and BJP politician Sonali Phogat is said to have been poisoned at this Goa restaurant before being pronounced dead.

After the restaurant’s owner did not get any relief from the National Green Tribunal, the demolition action against the establishment was launched (NGT).

However, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority’s prior decision to tear down the hut was maintained by the NGT on Thursday.

Among the five people detained in the Phogat murder case was Edwin Nunes, the owner of the ‘Curlies’ restaurant on Goa’s renowned Anjuna beach.

On Thursday, he was given conditional parole in exchange for a personal bail bond of 30,000 and two sureties of 15,000 apiece.

At the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa, the actor was declared dead on August 23.

There is a strong police presence outside of the Curlies restaurant.

The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has also mandated the closure of all businesses operated by Edwin Nunes and Linet Nunes, including Curlies Restaurant and Night Club and guest house, located in St. Michael Wado, Dando, Anjuna, Bardez-Goa.

In connection with the suspected murder of BJP leader Sonali Phogat in the Hisar region of Haryana earlier on Sunday, the Goa Police also visited several locales.

The police also shut the locker at Sonali Phogat’s house. After police saw the CCTV video of the group partying at a club, Sonali Phogat’s PA and his friend were detained.

Sonali Phogat’s family will petition the Goa High Court to request a CBI investigation after expressing displeasure with the Goa Police’s investigation into her death case.

In connection with the issue, Sonali Phogat’s family met with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and urged that the CBI look into the matter.

The chief minister promised the CBI inquiry. However, the family has chosen to move to the Goa High Court with their petition after becoming unsatisfied with the continuing probe.

Sonali Phogat’s nephew, Vikas Singh, is also a lawyer in his family. He told ANI that they have written to Chief Justice of India UU Lalit to request a CBI investigation.

And that if they are not satisfied with the response from the top court. They will file a writ petition with the Goa High Court by Friday.

Sonali Phogat was forcedly drugged, according to Goa Police, by her two companions, who were detained after being listed as defendants in the case.

The relatives of the dead BJP politician accused a guy of stealing a laptop and a phone from his property and the Haryana Police seized him.

Following the goods’ recovery by the Haryana Police, interrogation has begun.

BJP candidate Sonali Phogat, who became well-known for her TikTok videos, ran in the 2019 Haryana election but lost to then-Congressman Kuldeep Bishnoi (he has since joined the BJP). In 2020, she also appeared on the reality series Bigg Boss.
