London: Another 12,133 Omicron cases have been reported in the UK. It is the highest daily rise in the last year since COVID-19 was discovered across the UK. 

It brings the total number of Omicron cases detected within the nation to 37,101, according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is stated.

In the meantime, the UK announced 82,886 new coronavirus cases increasing the total of coronavirus cases across the nation to 11361,387 Xinhua reports, which cited official numbers released on Sunday.

In the case of confirmation, it is lower than Saturday’s number of 90,418. However, numbers tend to be less during the weekend. 

For example, on Friday, the UK recorded a record-breaking high in confirmed cases of 93,045.

The country also registered 45 coronavirus-related deaths. The number of coronavirus-related death in the UK is now 7,611 patients with Covid-19 who are still in the hospital.

The latest data came in the same week that British Health Minister Sajid Javid claimed that the newest variant is being spread “very, very quickly,” much faster than the numbers suggest.

There is a chance that “actual number of infections will be significantly higher than case numbers suggest” since many people will not be taking an exam. 

According to him, there’s some time for patients to receive their results from their tests.

In the meantime, the British government’s advisory scientists warn that more restrictions are required “within days” to prevent hospitals from becoming taken over by Omicron.

It is believed that the Omicron coronavirus strain has been identified in 89 countries, and the incidence is increasing within 1.5 to 3 days in communities with transmission as reported by The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced.

According to the most recent figures, over 89 percent of those aged 12 or more in Britain have received their first vaccine shot. More than 81% percent have received both doses.
