NHL: Seven goals in the 2nd half highlights Blues’ latest win. 

The visiting St. Louis Blues scored seven goals in the second period Sunday to beat the Nashville Predators 8-3 for their ninth straight win. Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou, and Calle Rosen each scored two goals.

The Blues, who are 11-0-1, have scored four or more goals in their past 12 games. Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists.

Nathan Walker also scored for St. Louis, who received two helpers from Colton Parayko, Ryan O’Reilly, and Ivan Barbashev. Jordan Binnington earned the win with 33 saves.

The Predators, who have won just two of their last six games, got goals from Nick Cousins, Luke Kunin, and Dante Fabbro.

Panthers win by a score of 6 to 1 over the Red Wings.

With two goals from Anton Lundell, Florida extended its winning streak to ten games by defeating Detroit.

For the Panthers, who have just lost once in their last 14 games, Spencer Knight made 33 saves. Anthony Duclair, Sam Reinhart, Maxim Mamin, and Gustav Forsling also scored for the league’s highest-scoring club.

On Saturday, the New York Rangers shut out the Red Wings, and Pius Suter scored for them. Sharks 4, Wild 5 (OT)

Jared Spurgeon scored two goals, including the game-winner 1:05 into overtime, to help Minnesota defeat San Jose in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Thanks to Kevin Fiala’s goal and three assists, Minnesota won a postseason berth for the third year in a row and the 12th time in franchise history. 

Matt Boldy added a goal and an assist for the Wild, and Dmitry Kulikov also scored.

San Jose’s Nick Bonino, Noah Gregor, and Rudolfs Balcers had a goal and an assist. The Sabres defeated the Flyers 5-3.

Victor Olofsson and Tage Thompson scored two goals as visiting Buffalo swept Philadelphia in a back-to-back series.

For the Sabres, who beat Philadelphia 4-3 in Buffalo the day before, Rasmus Dahlin and Peyton Krebs got two assists, while Dustin Tokarski made 32 saves.

Kevin Hayes and Noah Cates recorded a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who have now lost five straight games. Felix Sandstrom finished with 35 saves.

The Maple Leafs defeated the Islanders by a score of 4 to 2.

As host Toronto eliminated New York from playoff contention, William Nylander had a goal and an assist, and Mitch Marner, Pierre Engvall, and David Kampf scored.

Michael Bunting got two assists for the hosts, and Jack Campbell made 27 saves. 

New York’s Anthony Beauvillier and Josh Bailey scored for the Rangers. 

The latter will miss the Stanley Cup playoffs for the second year after reaching the NHL semifinals the previous two years.

Toronto had a 37-29 shooting advantage over the Islanders. Ilya Sorokin, the Isles’ goalkeeper, made 33 saves.

The Ducks defeated the Blue Jackets by a score of 6 to 4.

In a three-point game for each, Troy Terry scored twice, and Derek Grant scored once to lead host Anaheim against Columbus.

For the Ducks, Trevor Zegras, Gerry Mayhew, and Cam Fowler had one goal and one assist. John Gibson, the goalkeeper, made 31 saves.

Jake Bean scored twice for the Blue Jackets, who also got goals from Sean Kuraly and Cole Sillinger. J-F Berube, the goalkeeper, made 26 saves.
