Center Will Introduce 24 Bills During the Monsoon Session

The Cantonment Bill, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill are among the 24 legislation on the Center’s agenda that will introduce during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which will begin on Monday.

According to a bulletin released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Cantonment Bill seeks to increase developmental goals in coordination with municipalities nationwide and enable “ease of life” in cantonments.

To increase public confidence in these societies and foster an environment conducive to their growth and development, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill aims to rationalize the government’s role in cooperatives and increase participation in how the multi-state cooperative societies operate.

Similar to this, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill aims to enhance the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code via the introduction of provisions on cross-border insolvency and other revisions for a time-bound resolution of stressed assets while maximizing their value.

The Development of Enterprises and Services Hubs Bill, which proposes to amend the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, and set rules, the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Bill, the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, and the Competition (Amendment) Bill are a few of the other bills that have been listed for introduction.

The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to rationalize the restricted zones and make other revisions, has also been put on the government’s agenda.

Other bills that have been scheduled for introduction include the Indian Institute of Management (Amendment) Bill, the Old Grant (Regulation) Bill, the Forest (Conservation) (Amendment) Bill, the National Dental Commission Bill, the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, and the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill.

The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, the Trafficking of Persons (Protection, Care and Rehabilitation) Bill, the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, and the Family Courts (Amendment) Bill are also slated for introduction during the session.

Additionally planned for presentation are two different constitutional amendment measures for Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu that would update the lists of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
