Music Review Baaghi 3

EXPECTATIONS

A great movie always has high expectations when it comes to music, also, with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor teaming up for a film produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. He has an ear for music and directed by Ahmed Khan, who has been a choreographer for over two decades, it’s a fact that music would turn out to be good. That being said, as is the trend, most of the songs on Baaghi 3 have recreated versions, and one waits to see what the soundtrack offers.

MUSIC

Baaghi 3 it starts with a ‘dhamakedaar’ note as Vishal-Shekhar recreates his own success “Dus Bahane 2.0‘. In the days when this is work done by those who specialize in recreating other people’s hit songs, it is a pleasant surprise to see Vishal-Shekhar picking up on this and doing justice to this song written by Panchhi Jalonvi. While the rhythms are there and the hook is as exciting as ever, one can see the kind of maturity that is shown by experienced composers doing it themselves with singers KK, Shaan, and Tulsi Kumar.

Well, this is where the originality around the original songwriters recreating their own songs stops when Tanishk Bagchi, the specialist, is cornered by Bappi Lahiri. ‘Bhankas.’ A recreation of Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle’s «Ek Ankh Marun To‘ of TohfaThis song (which was originally written by Indeevar) receives quick treatment by Tanishk Bagchi with Dev Negi and Jonita Gandhi doing the job together with lyricist Shabbir Ahmed. A massive number that is aimed at single-screen audiences, this one does the job.

The song that is represented for the audience of a single screen and has a tone and a mood that is oriented to the multiplex is represented by Nikhita Gandhi ‘You love Me.’ Actually written, composed, and sung by Lebanese artist Rene Bendali, it has Disha Patani sizzling for the screen. Let it be said the fact that the recreated version is really better than the original. Furthermore, the hook ‘You love Me’ It is also impressive. However, somewhere the energy of the song could have been better, as it could well have complemented Disha’s surprising presence on screen.

However, there is good energy on display when Pranaay composed ‘Prepare to fight’ come back from where you left off Baaghi 2 after being first heard on Baaghi. There’s something really themed about this song that always works and could well act as a motivating and inspiring piece that’s not limited to just playing the movie. Written by Ginny Diwan and composed by Siddharth Basrur, this fits in quite well as part of the film’s thrilling, action-packed narrative.

Tandon sung bag ‘Faaslon Mein’ is actually the first original number, which is created just for Baaghi 3, to get to the soundtrack. Written by Shabbir Ahmed, this love song could have managed to cover some kind of distance if it had been released earlier and promoted more aggressively. In fact, this Sachet-Parampara song has a melodic base and could well have found more popularity if it had been part of a romantic drama like Kabir Singh instead.

The last to arrive is «Tujhe Rab Mana‘which is about the bond between two brothers (played by Tiger Shroff and Riteish Deshmukh). This one appears right at the beginning of the movie and is inspired by “Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan” that was heard at Amitabh Bachchan’s Yaarana. However, the money stops at the hook line as the rest of the song has a completely different key set by composer Rochak Kohli with new lyrics by Gurpreet Saini and Gautam G Sharma. It’s good to hear Shaan on a new song here, although he did set the tone with ‘Dus Bahane 2.0‘ previously.

USUALLY

The music of Baaghi 3 works for the ‘masala’ genre of the film. Although a couple of songs could have improved with additional rhythm, tried and tested numbers like ‘Dus Bahane 2.0’Prepare to fight and ‘Bhankas’ make up for that.

OUR CHOICE (S)

‘Dus Bahane 2.0’, ‘Prepare to fight,’ ‘Bhankas.’
