According to information obtained by Press Trust of India, the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena has been allowed 15 days to present documentation supporting their claim to the party’s electoral emblem.
The Shiv Sena’s opposing sections, headed by Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, were ordered by the Electoral Commission last month to provide documentation by August 8 to substantiate their arguments over the meaning of the party’s election emblem, a “bow, and arrow.”
The EC has now ordered it to deliver the records by August 23 in response to a request from the Thackeray faction, sources added.

In response to a query on the request by the Thackeray group to delay the hearing by four weeks, sources noted that the EC has just requested papers, and the hearing would take place later.
The election authority had requested papers from the two groups, including written comments and letters of support from the Shiv Sena’s legislative and organizational branches.
In June of this year, Mr. Shinde and 39 other Shiv Sena lawmakers staged a coup against the party’s leadership, which resulted in the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration. The Shiv Sena, the Congress, and the Nationalist Congress Party made up the MVA regime.
Following their alliance with the BJP, the Shinde camp established the Maharashtra government.
On June 30, Eknath Shinde and BJP leader and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis took the oath of office.
