PM of Canada offers condolences after stabbings: A major search for the perpetrators of one of the bloodiest assaults in Canadian history entered its second day on Monday as police looked for two men accused of murdering ten people in a spate of stabbings in an Indigenous settlement and a neighboring town.

According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the flag flying above the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa will lower to half-staff in remembrance of the victims.

“Unfortunately, catastrophes like this have been prevalent over the last several years,” stated Trudeau. “Canadians and Saskatchewanites will support one another as we always have in times of adversity and suffering.”

According to the authorities, some of the victims specifically targeted. In contrast, others on the James Smith Cree Nation and in the Saskatchewan hamlet of Weldon seemed to have picked randomly.

The crimes, which also resulted in 18 injuries, had no apparent motivation, although a top Indigenous elder speculated that narcotics may have played some role.
