On Monday, September 12, 2022, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that certain political parties are solely working to “create a bad image” of West Bengal and are “ignorant” of the accomplishments of her Trinamool Congress (TMC) administration.

She said that during the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020–21, the employment rate plummeted by 45% elsewhere in the nation, but it increased by 40% in West Bengal.

She suggested that different homestays be established in tourist hotspots to make Bengal the top domestic tourism destination.
