US July 4 attack plot defendant admits to immigration charge: A Guatemalan immigrant charged by authorities with participating in the July 4 mass shooting plan in the state’s capital entered a guilty plea to an immigration charge on Thursday.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, a federal court accepted Rolman Balcarcel-Bavagas’ plea to the charge of illegally reentering the country after deported and scheduled a sentence for Nov 10.
The 38-year-old Balcarcel-Bavagas may spend up to two years in jail and fined $250,000.
According to the publication, neither Julio Alvarado-Dubon nor Balcarcel-Bavagas has explicitly prosecuted for the alleged scheme. And a federal prosecutor made no mention of it on Thursday.
Police stated an Independence Day shooting had prevented and revealed the men’s arrest during a press conference on July 6. A “hero citizen,” according to Chief Gerald Smith, called the police after overhearing a chat about an impending assault.
From the residence where police said the guys resided, officers recovered two assault weapons, a pistol, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
On Colette McEachin’s request, the U.S. Attorney’s office took up the case early this month in Richmond.

According to the court records, he permitted to leave voluntarily in 2013 and deported in 2014.
An accusation of non-citizen possession of a firearm has brought against Alvarado-Dubon. His next court date is not specified in court documents.
