South Africa focused on beating India despite their off-field issues.

Do you want to add this warning to this story? Cricket-South Africa is committed to beating India despite their off-field issues.

The captain of Test cricket Dean Elgar says he will not allow the accusations of racism that have been exposed within Cricket South Africa in recent months to serve as an excuse for failure while his team is preparing to host India in a series of three matches beginning on Sunday.

Director of Cricket Graeme Smith, who denies the allegations, as did the national team’s head coach Mark Boucher, were among several CSA employees implicated with “tentative findings” made by the Social Justice and Nation Building Ombudsman investigate claims of discrimination from the past.

CSA said on Tuesday that they would investigate the conduct of all those involved in the investigation; however, only after the examination with India is over.

“What happens off the field for me is irrelevant now,” Elgar stated to his reporters Tuesday. “As an entire team, we’ve had to endure such difficult moments (amid an epidemic of COVID-19) that we’ve forged the perfect connection within our group.

“We must be mindful that if things are worse off the field, we can’t use that as a cop-out for us. We are a professional team and professional players.”

Elgar seemed to offer his support for Boucher following the former spinner of the test team Paul Adams said he had been described as”brown shit” and “brown shit” in a South Africa team song during his time with the team as a wicket-keeper and from former wicket-keeper Boucher who has since apologized.

“From the player’s point of view, we back our coaches and management,” Elgar said.

“They put in so much work that goes unnoticed, and it gets watered down by the media. I know what they do behind the scenes. It is not nice to see our coaches get criticized for things.”

South Africa has, meanwhile, announced that they would not be able to call on speed bowler Anrich Nortje in the match after he failed to recover from injuries fully. Accordingly, they won’t be calling to replace him.
