Jai Ram Thakur hails Supreme Court go-ahead for 605 infra projects

Himachal Pradesh Prime Minister Jai Ram Thakur praised the Supreme Court verdict on Tuesday that paved the way for the execution of 605 projects spread over a total of 685.58 hectares, which were pending authorization in recent years.

Thakur said that the higher court, through an order dated February 15, has cleared the way to implement 138 projects for which the Center has approved the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) and also allowed to execute 465 projects under the Act. of Forest Rights (FRA). Approved projects include the Rs 1,337 crore National Green Corridor Highway in Sirmaur and the Rs 61.48 crore National Highway 20-A in Dharamsala approved by the Ministry of Road and Highway Transport.

The Chief Minister said the high court on Monday granted authorizations under the FCA to 138 projects, including 20 for hydroelectricity, 88 for roads, five for potable water, three for bus stops and two each for universities, office buildings of treasury and sewerage. treatment plants, and one each of IIT Kamand, school, car parking, submarket yard, police post, Gau Sadan, Manali cable car, helipad, Shiv Dham Mandi and bridge.

The 465 projects approved under the FRA include 334 for roads, 53 for schools, 20 for community centers, 18 for drinking water supply and water pipes, 13 tanks and other smaller bodies of water, 10 dispensaries or hospitals, seven anganwadis, six skill upgrades or vocational training centers, and one for each fair price store, electric and telephone lines, minor irrigation canal, and water or rainwater catchment structure.

These projects were delayed for a long time because authorities were unable to move forward due to instructions from the higher court dated March 11, 2019.
