Lockdown News: List of Cities Under Complete Shutdown This Week to Break Chain of Coronavirus

Block news: To contain the spread of the coronavirus, several states have imposed a complete closure in certain cities. Starting from Odisha and Tamil Nadu to Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, these states have taken strict measures in these cities to break the chain of the virus. However, they have allowed essential services to function during this time.

Cuttack (Odisha)

Amid growing cases of coronvirus, the Odisha government declared a complete closure in Cuttack on Saturday until July 8. During this time, all non-essential stores will be closed and non-essential travel will be prohibited.

In issuing a notification, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) said that grocery, vegetable, and milk stores can remain open from 5 AM to 6 PM while strictly adhering to COVID-19 security protocols. Development occurs when Cuttack’s COVID-19 count increased to 116, including 92 active cases.

Sambalpur (Odisha)

In addition to Cuttack, the Sambalpur district administration also announced a one-day shutdown on Sunday to contain the spread of the virus. According to notification from the district administration, restrictions will be imposed on vehicular movement and non-essential services.

Madurai (Tamil Nadu)

Observing the growing cases of coronavirus, the Tamil Nadu government has extended the complete blockade in Madurai until July 12. Prior to this, the state government had announced the total blockade in areas within the Madurai Corporation, Parachai Town Panchayat, and rural Madurai East, Madurai West, and Thirupparankundram rural blocks from June 24 to July 5.

In issuing a notification, Prime Minister K Palaniswami said essential services will continue during the closure and that no activities of any kind will be allowed in the containment areas.

Just a few days ago, the state government announced that there will be a complete closure on all four Sundays in July in Tamil Nadu.

Ballia (Uttar Pradesh)

After 40 new cases were reported, the Ballia District Administration in Uttar Pradesh imposed a complete closure in and around the city of Ballia from July 3 to 10.

The development occurs when the city in the last 10 days has reported 42 cases with 30 of them with no travel history.

In issuing an order, District Magistrate Hari Pratap Shahi said that all towns in and around the city have been declared containment zones and said there will be restrictions on the movement of people. However, only individuals involved in the provision of essential services will be exempt.

Itanagar and Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh)

Taking preventative measures, the Arunachal Pradesh government also announced a full week-long closure in Itanagar and Naharlagun on Saturday starting July 6.

According to the state government’s announcement, the full block will be imposed at 5 a.m. July 6 and running until 5 p.m. July 12.

In issuing the order, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said there will be certain exemptions to be announced on July 5, Kumar said.

The twin cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun, which are also known as the Capital Complex region, have seen a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases from 89 so far. Of the 89 cases, 81 are active while eight people have recovered.

With 20 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the state on Saturday, the total count in the state is 252.

Bangalore

On Saturday, the Karnataka government imposed a strict blockade on all the state’s containment areas, especially in Bangalore, to control the spread of the coronavirus.

The measure was taken since 1,839 new cases of the corona were reported in the last 24 hours. The total count in the state has increased to 21,549, including 11,966 active cases and 9,244 cured patients. The state’s death toll rose to 335 with 42 more victims since Friday.

On the other hand, Bengaluru only represented 1,172 new cases, bringing its account of positive cases to 8,345 and active cases to 7,250 with 965 patients discharged to date.
