two new managers have impressed Rangers manager Ross Wilson

The Glasgow Rangers are intensifying their search for a new coach at Ibrox following the departure of Steven Gerrard in the middle of the week.

The Rangers have been heavily tied to Ibrox icon Giovanni van Bronckhorst in recent days.

In fact, the Dutchman held talks with the Rangers hierarchy on Saturday, which were said to be positive.

Sky Sports reported that Rangers will speak with other shortlisted candidates over the course of this weekend.

And a clearer picture of who will succeed Gerrard is expected early next week, the outlet added.

Frank Lampard has also been linked to the Rangers vacancy, while the Daily log has reported two new names.

The outlet claims that Bodo / Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen and KV Oostende manager Alexander Blessin have impressed Ross Wilson.

Knutsen has led his modest team to the top of the Eliteserien, Norway’s top flight.

In addition, Bodo / Glimt recently made a big impact in the Europa League, losing 6-1 over José Mourinho’s Roma in October.

Meanwhile, Blessin is known to the Rangers hierarchy, as the Premiership champions signed Fashion Sakala from the Belgian team.

However, he claims the Rangers are less likely to go with someone who has had no prior experience in the British game.

It remains to be seen who the Rangers will decide to name and while Van Bronckhorst seems likely, there is always the possibility of twists in the story.
